Non-Immigrant Visa B. Normally a single entry visa to Thailand is issued which is valid for 90 days. Obtaining a work permit and opening a bank account is possible. You can extend your visa to one-year Non-Immigrant visa if you have fulfilled legal requirements. Most of the time, customers initially visit Thailand on tourist visa. If they find the business of their choice, they hire attorneys to process for their Non-Immigrant Visa. In most cases, you have to leave country to get Non-Immigrant Visa. Many nationals of different countries can get Non B visa from Penang (Malaysia) or other neighbour countries.
Banks normally require Non-B Visa and work permit if you want to open a Bank Account in Thailand. However, if you are planning to start a business and you want to transfer money in your own account from your home country. You can open a Bank account with certain restrictions on Tourist Vsia. Money can be deposited as well as withdrawal is possible. This is the safest option adopted by many customers. It is possible that all Banks may not open your account, but Bangkok Bank open these accounts, with no customer complaints so far.
Although it is not a restricted activity you cannot hold the licenses as an individual. You would need to open a company and the Food and Alcohol licenses would be issued to that company. You can open other types of juristic entities but you would not be able to act as a managing director of the business and you would not be able to get a work permit so a Thai Limited Company is recommended if you plan on running the business yourself.
It depends on what kind of business she registers, if she registers a sole proprietorship (i.e. in her name only with no shareholders) it is highly unlikely that Labor Office will issue you a work permit. In order to get a work-permit, Labour Department wants to see a Thai Limited Company with three shareholders of which Thais must be majority owners and four Thai employees, the business must have a registered capital (i.e. registered shares) of 2 million baht as well. If she sets up this kind of structure then you can get a non-B visa and apply for a work permit to work at her company, there is a minimum salary that you must pay taxes on as well.
In most cases, it is 10% of the Key money that is sufficient to block the property for agreed period of time (often for a month maximum). If there is no key money, then the 10% of annual rental income can be deposited for agreed period of time with the owner.
